Mara Rhodes, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counseling Intern, received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Vermont in 2001. She relocated to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 2002 where she continues to reside. Mara finds great joy and gratitude in all that the mountains and the unique Steamboat Springs community provide her and her three children.

Mara began her work in the mental health field in 2014. Through a grant and partnership with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Mara founded the Yampa Valley Rx Task Force promoting community advocacy and education for youth, parents, first responders, and clinicians during the opioid epidemic. She continued to work throughout Northwest Colorado’s 5 county region expanding programing and resources to those impacted by trauma, crisis, addiction, grief and loss.

In August of 2026, Mara will complete her graduate school programming to earn a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University. Prior to her time with Emerald Integrative Health, Mara worked in residential substance use disorder treatment where she was able to build her skills in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, dual diagnosis approaches, and family therapy.

Mara uses empathic approaches to therapy for a broad range of counseling needs for teens, adults, individuals and families. She believes that valuable client counselor relationships are built through collaboration, trust, and empowerment. Mara supports her clients through treatment planning that fosters the confidence needed for individuals to find inward stability, peace, and growth. Mara believes in the power of the collaborative process a therapeutic relationship can provide. She supports her clients through life’s transitions by helping them rediscover the power within to create lasting change and healing in their own lives.
